Plans, directs, manages and controls the funding requirements of the Branch and utilization of the Bank�s funds in the most optimal manner so as to maximize profits within the risk parameters.
� Responsible for the management of the asset-liability position of the Bank by funding the Bank�s books in the safest and most cost-effective manner.
� Responsible for the management of net foreign exchange exposure by hedging Forex risks. Authorises the dealing in Forex and on the money market on behalf of the Bank in accordance with overall objectives and the regulatory framework so as to earn adequate dealing profits and meet the operational requirements of the Bank. Drafts policies and procedures regarding conduct of the Forex business and managing foreign exchange risks for approval of the management.
� Identifies the need for funds in local currency/foreign currency to match the operations of the Bank and lending through the credit department and develops and implements optimal funding strategies. Accepts deposits from financial institutions and clients at rates favourable to the Bank.
� Monitors the availability of funds for gainful utilisation and placement/investment with approved financial institutions and proceeds as per approvals and guidelines of the Management.
� Markets the Forex and large deposit business for the Bank by identifying profitable opportunities and concentrating resources on those areas that produce the best return
� Gives and negotiates rates for placement of funds and sourcing of funds. Advises the branches/offices about exchange/interest rates to be quoted to customers.
� Ensures that the stipulated regulatory liquidity related ratios are maintained and the reserve specified by CBK/CBO is met.
� Liaises with investment institutions, investment brokers, banks & financial institutions, high networth individuals and regulatory authorities for treasury management.
� Advises Management of short-term investment opportunities and undertakes short-term investment in instruments on approval/within guidelines issued by the regulators and Management.
� Continually reviews departmental reports and statements on the P&L, Liquidity, Cash flow and advises Management of significant trends to manage the Asset-Liability position of the Bank. Identifies, measures and manages all interest rate and currency risks.
� Ensures accurate and timely reporting as required to the Management, Auditors, Accounts, branches and CBK/CBO. This includes statistical reports as per law and internal reports and rate sheets for internal decision making.
� Negotiates credit, forex / placement lines from other banks and financial institutions. Assesses credit risks and recommend facilities for other banks and financial institutions. Monitors the lines with other banks and financial institutions and other arrangements to ensure effective utilisation.
� Assesses the suitability and terms of Nostro accounts and make recommendations to the Management.
� Oversees vostro accounts and responds to enquiries and balance confirmations. Handles reconciliation with correspondents.
� Exchanges tariff, documentation, specimen signature and test keys etc and updates them periodically as required by the nature of the Bank�s operations.
� Identifies the training and developmental priorities of the department in conjunction with the Training department and ensures that staff are adequately skilled to meet the future requirements of the Bank.
� A professional degree in Finance or Banking with over 15 year�s experience in an International Commercial bank with at least 7 years in the treasury function.
� Excellent analytical and communication skills
