This position will assist attorneys in the Middle East and Islamic Finance practice with a particular focus on the Middle East.
Candidates must be able to take initiative, work independently and efficiently in an environment that is computer based, perform under strict time constraints, follow established client and team guidelines for matter management, maintain positive contact with clients and observe confidentiality of client matters.
Candidates will have the following skills and responsibilities:
Prepare transmittal letters, initial drafts of transaction documents and receive/consolidate comments to drafts;
Proofread typed material for contextual, grammatical, typographical or spelling errors and redline documents including checking factual information, defined terms, continuity and numbering;
Prepare transaction files by creating distribution lists and checklists, organizing and creating complex transactional files and indexes, and coordinate status of drafts;
Prepare closing checklists, coordinate closing logistics and oversee execution of documents;
Coordinate post-closing follow-up including recording and registration of documents, and distribution of original documents;
Compile and distribute paper and electronic closing sets;
Draft legal instruments and corporate governance documents (including amendments) and prepare filings, including entity formation, qualification, and dissolution;
Assist with various licensure applications;
Obtain corporate information and documents including good standing certificates and certified corporate documents;
Maintain corporate minute books;
Assist with due diligence review;
Perform factual legal research and analysis using all available resources including libraries and computer data systems;
Familiarity with WestLaw and Lexis-Nexis;
Track and manage deadlines in firm docket system;
Process and track vendor invoices;
Keep accurate time records and observe confidentiality of client matters;
Miscellaneous duties that may from time to time be required; and
Provide assistance to Middle East & Islamic Finance attorneys across US offices and international locations
2 - 3 years of law firm experience in a transactional and/or corporate practice.
Speak, read and write the English language fluently.
Proficiency in MS Office Suite, Adobe Acrobat Professional, DTE Axiom, iRedline, DeltaView, iManage (DeskSite).
Positive attitude and strong, concise communication and writing skills. Work under pressure, organize, prioritize, and complete multiple tasks under strict time constraints.
Committed team player as well as a motivated self-starter.
Interpersonal skills necessary in order to communicate and follow instructions effectively from a diverse group of clients, attorneys and staff and provide information with ordinary courtesy, tact and discretion.
Travel to private and public buildings, locally and internationally, via private or public conveyance to assist attorney in attending to client needs on legal matters.
Retrieve and distribute print volumes; push and pull packages and books weighing up to 20 pounds; and retrieve and replace objects from shelves of up to 8 feet high. Able to sit for 7.5 hours a day or more.
Able to work more than 37.5 hours per week to perform the essential duties of the position; may require irregular hours (including weekends and holidays), often without advance notice.
Must be willing to make a 5 year commitment
