To lead and manage the Port Agency team, reporting directly to the GM Dubai and NE ensuring a responsive and customer focused service is provided for the following functions - Plan, organize, manage and monitor operational excellence for the Marine Services / Port Agency Division.
Team Management and Leadership
Effective resource management factoring short, medium and long term requirements of the division.
Management of individual performance in accordance with the Companys Performance Review and Performance Planning process i.e. conducting regular reviews, providing feedback and formally appraising performance.
Identity training and development needs for new and existing team members.
Recruitment and selection of new team members.
Manage the financial performance of the Marine services division, achieving the financial KPIs set.
Build and maintain an annual budget plan and monitor regularly striving to meet and if not exceed the budget by maximizing revenue flows and keeping fixed costs to a minimum.
Take corrective action where areas of unsatisfactory performance are identified.
In conjunction with the Finance Manager, monitor and report on financial performance and ensure proper controls are in place.
Build relationships with prospective customers with the goal to turn the occasional customer to strategic partners.
Client account management and close collaboration with Sales and General Managers when opportunities are identified.
Maintain up to date knowledge and understanding of the industry across the Location with regular communication with the Sales team and General Managers.
Communication and Reporting
Lead regular i.e. monthly team meetings with Marine Team to discuss priorities and review progress
Communicate local and corporate messages to the Marine Services / Port Agency team members
Timely preparation and submission of Management Reports to provide updates on the Marine Services / Port Agency performance
To investigate and establish an action plan for any report findings
Streamlining Operations/Business Improvements
Build the knowledge base of the Marine Services Team by driving the collation and compilation of accurate information on ports
Ensure regular audits are conducted on the knowledge base to make sure information is up to date
Recommend improvements to policies, procedures and working practices to enhance business operations and the customer experience
Lead the implementation of new or revised procedures or working practices
Share best practice models or methods across the ISS Locations
Ensure the Port Agency business operations are legally compliant and are in line with ISS Group Policies
Quality and Health, Safety, Security and Environment (HSSE)
Adherence to ISS Quality Management System
Accountable for ensuring that an appropriate assessment of health, safety, security and environment (HSSE) risk is included as part of work planning
Accountable for implementation and monitoring of actions to mitigate risk and enhance controls within area of responsibility to ensure the HSSE of both the job holder and other persons who may be affected by acts carried out or failed to be carried out by the job holder
Ensure full compliance with, and implementation of, the ISS HSSE Management System
Ensure that appropriate resources are allocated to control HSSE risk
Accountable for ensuring that clear, appropriate and timely communication channels are put in place to report and manage HSSE risk
Full utilization of YourISS 2.0 as per ISS Standard Operating Procedures
Ensure team are accurately inputting operational and commercial information into YourISS 2.0 in a timely manner
Ensure all sales leads/data are input into Salesforce
Qualifications & Experience:
Relevant experience of 10 years in the Marine/Offshore covering Operations of which 5 years at managerial level
Extensive experience in marine assessments
Agency background in a similar role, preferably with good market contacts
Pleasant personality/ peoples person
Master Mariner certification (Desirable)
Excellent working knowledge of charter party rules and requirements (Desirable)
Strong Marine background/ Master Mariner preferred, with College Degree
Member of the Institute of Chartered Ship Brokers ( MICS)
Excellent working knowledge of Shipping Insurances
Knowledge of HSE and ISM standards related to Marine Industry
Proven experience of financial management including building an annual budget plan and financial reporting
Experience of client/customer account management
Relevant management experience in a customer service environment with management/supervision of 30 plus employees
Proven experience of delivering results through others
Experience of using operating and/or Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system
Strong communication both verbal and written
IT/ PC literate & process/ change driven
