The Engineering Supervisor position is the first level of supervision in the Engineering Department, and includes a combination of managing others and contributing individual technical work. The planning horizon is typically 0-12 months with an emphasis on successfully executing current project and customer support work in a professional manner. Working with the Manager, plans are developed for future project and customer support work.
Lead the group while creating a culture based on Engineering Professionalism that leads to timely implementation and innovative technical solutions.
Manage staff by setting goals, providing coaching to improve performance of group members, conduct regular employee appraisals, lead monthly meetings, and lead the team to the successful realization of goals.
Display a high level of professionalism to achieve customer goals by working across the plants, engineering groups, machinery manufacturing, and other departments.
Propose and coordinate team efforts with other groups to generate a competitive advantage for the company.
Devise and implement strategies to improve customer service with regards to training, troubleshooting, and incident response services, to share best practices with customers.
Technical Oversight and Direction:
Develop and disseminate a body of knowledge, based on the documented engineering studies regarding the capability of our processes, equipment, products, and raw materials, as it relates to the process of paper products.
Monitor production operations, investigate and evaluate new technologies to resolve current or potential problems, and make recommendations for improvements as it relates to paper products.
Evaluate various improvements to the production equipment and provide recommendations for production processes and product quality.
Paper Operations Group Functions:
Determine and recommend resources needed to improve paper processes.
Oversee all projects related to paper equipment, layouts and processes.
Provide troubleshooting support to facilities making paper products.
Core Skills and Qualifiers
The ideal candidate must possess all of the following:
A Bachelors degree in Engineering or a Paper Science related degree.
At least 5 years of supervisory experience.
At least 5 years of experience as a technical resource for a manufacturing/production process, and overseeing development and implementation of standards, practices and procedures for projects and support work.
At least 5 years of experience using MS Word and Excel.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
The ability to travel up to 35% of the time domestically and internationally.
A valid drivers license and favorable motor vehicle report.
The ability to obtain and maintain a passport.
