Position: Gemologist

Company: Geopolicity Inc. (DMCC Branch)
Location Dubai, UAE

Salary: AED 10,000 15,000 plus bonus

Job Summary:
We are looking for a passionate and talented Gemologist with strong experience in rough appraisals to join our team. The right candidate will be enthusiastic, motivated and detail-oriented. This position inspects incoming and outgoing colored gemstone products while working closely with the sourcing and sales teams to maximize profits.
Gemologists are responsible for performing tasks that require the application of the Gemological Institute of America's standards and practices. This includes exhibiting the highest standards of workmanship and ethics in all aspects of the job that require focus, skill, teamwork and communication.

Responsibilities:
Review and quality assurance inspections of loose emeralds, rubies, sapphires and other colored gemstones to optimize high quality, maintain consistency, and reduce cost.
Identifying and Grading Rough Colored Gemstones
Travel to remote mines in Central Asia and Africa to assist buying team with sourcing of rough colored gemstones.
Perform Colored Gemstone Appraisals
Strong knowledge of market demand and pricing of colored stones (rough and cut/polished stones)
Track, review, and process gemstone inventory with efficiency and high level of accuracy. Maintain strict organization of estate and gemstone inventory.
Work with sales team to assist with requirements for sourcing special order gemstones.
Coordinate orders across different suppliers, and track status of purchase orders to ensure timely arrival and processing.
Formulate and implement systems, policies and procedures to ensure smooth operation of business.
Grade and sort rough gemstones into different batches according to GIA grading
Must be willing to travel to remote locations in Central Asia, including Afghanistan and Myanmar where security will be provided.

Qualifications:
Graduate Gemologist degree required (GIA GG)
5+ years as a gemologist in rough gemstone appraisals required
Certification in fine jewelry appraisal preferred
Ideal candidates will thrive in a fast-paced startup environment and exhibit impeccable attention to detail and organizational skills.
Ability to multi-task and accept direction, as well as operate independently in a fast-paced environment
Must possess strong verbal and written communications skills
Ability to problem-solve independently and as a team
Results oriented with a strong sense of ownership and accountability
Inventory/supply chain experience in a retail or e-commerce environment preferred
Highly organized with focus on execution, problem solving, and improving processes
Exceptional time management skills and accountability
Ability to think critically and adapt quickly in a flexible environment
